What has become obvious is that the internet is a revolutionary and paradigm changing technology. Even more dramatically the internet has been the catalyst of the leap to an entirely new age in human history. Just as the invention of the printing press created the medium for information exchange needed to spark the Industrial Revolution, (which changed the basic underlying paradigm that society operated upon from the Agrarian model to the Industrial model), so too has the internet created the medium for information exchange needed to spark the Information Revolution, and our societies basic paradigm of production is in the process of transforming to the Information Age model. What does this mean for us as private citizens and the providers for our families? Firstly, the way that our parents lived, the nature of their work life, the core underlying assumptions of their investment, retirement planning, and wider aspirations are now obsolete. A new age demands new answers, and to cling to the old ways for no other reason than that we know and are comfortable with them is a sure way to perish in the new world. Today we need new answers.. One of the new answers that is emerging is a shift away from getting a job at the bottom of a big company, and spending 30 years, going into the office everyday, working our way to the top of that company. This change can be best understood by examining three emerging trends: Firstly there is a growing trend away from big companies to small companies. The impact of economies of scale, which once made the big company a necessity, have in many industries been significantly reduced by the tools of the Information Revolution. Today a single person working from home with a computer and an internet connection can build an empire the likes of which was once unimaginable without a massive corporate headquarters and hundreds of staff. Adding to this trend is the fact that many of todays home based businesss have the massive advantage that they can be started part time providing a further reduction in the risk associated with starting a business as there is no need to leave current employment and suffer income loss to do so. Secondly there is a growing trend toward working from home! Why go into an office to sit in front of a computer when you can save the commute, sit at home, download all the information you need, and submit your work via the internet. Communication is easy with email and phones, and when you need a face to face meeting, video conference. From the home based businesss perspective, the power of this trend is phenomenal, making it continuously more and more viable to start a low cost, high return home based business, with a risk level that is laughable when compared to the risk level endured by Industrial Age business. Thirdly, there is no more job security. Like it or not, the simple fact is that the job for life is an anachronism. Equally so are defined benefit retirement plans (company pensions) and viable government funded social security (government pensions). The only way to achieve financial security in todays world is to develop the mindset and skills needed to acquire secure cash flow producing assets. Basically, for the 95%+ of the population born without a silver spoon in their mouth, the only way they will be able to do this reliably is to work for themselves in a business of their own, and invest the proceeds. This needs to be done pre-emptively! (We need to dig our well BEFORE we get thirsty.) Where do we go from here? Start learning (and earning) today! There is no need to quit your job or invest thousands of dollars. Some of the best online business strategies cost less than $100.00 to start, and only require a computer and an internet connection. Many strategies dont need any programming or high level computer skills and some dont even require a website! If you are unsure how to start, there are a lot of educational products around ranging in price from free to thousands of dollars. Start with the more affordable ones dont splash out a few thousand for some product about internet business, (at least not until you are reasonably well established and have made the money from your business to pay for the product.)
