The team was left off the initial 2006 entry list after failing to pay on time a ₤27 million bond with the FIA. The team owned by former Formula One driver Aguri Suzuki gets underway in Bahrain on March 12 and the driver line-up will be announced soon. Suzuki announced three weeks ago that his team will use engines supplied by Honda Motor and will be based in Langley, Oxfordshire. They will be using the factory of disbanded F1 team Arrows. The new Formula One team will use adapted Arrows chassis from the 2002 season with Honda engines before introducing their own car at the start of the European season at Imola at the end of April. The Japan driver Takuma Sato is certain to be the lead driver for the Super Aguri Formula One Team, after he was dropped by BAR-Honda last season. Sakon Yamamoto, who impressed in a one-off Jordan test last year, is a leading candidate, so is Roger Yasukawa, who drives for Super Aguris Indy Racing League team in the United States. Narain Karthikeyan, with substantial backing from Indian industrial giant Tata, is the most likely option if Suzuki chooses against an all-Japanese line-up. |
