Many conventional radio veterans have moved into some sort of internet venture. This development dovetails with the erosion and even elimination of traditional formats like oldies radio in America. Internet radio stations also provide a forum for new releases which cant get exposure (airplay) on terrestrial (see conventional) radio outlets. The future of internet radio is not in doubt. What remains unseen however, is how effective the marketing, technology and interactive promotion will be to involve more computer users. The more said audience views internet radio as a personal entity, the more relevance internet radio will have to traditional radio users. |
